I’m usually reading a few books at a time, so I’m going to update this every weekend with the list of books I’m currently reading.

The Brothers Karamazov
Fyodor Dostoevsky
“The last and greatest of Dostoevsky’s novels, The Brothers Karamazov is a towering masterpiece of literature, philosophy, psychology, and religion. It tells the story of intellectual Ivan, sensual Dmitri, and idealistic Alyosha Karamazov, who collide in the wake of their despicable father’s brutal murder.
Into the framework of the story Dostoevsky poured all of his deepest concerns—the origin of evil, the nature of freedom, the craving for meaning and, most importantly, whether God exists.”

What are the odds of me finishing this by Christmas? 50-1, I’d say.
Eat This Book
Eugene Peterson
A follow-up to the terrific first book in this series, Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places. So far, only halfway through, I can say that I enjoyed the meatier CPTTP a little more, but Eat This Book is an excellent read. In it, Peterson brilliantly explores the idea of learning to spiritually ingest the Scriptures, instead of simply reading them.
Thanks in part to the gentle admonishments in this book I’ve spent more time reading my Bible this past week than I have in a long time.
Just Courage
Gary A. Haugen
Haugen is the president and CEO of International Justice Mission (IJM), a human rights organization based in Washington, D.C. and the book is about how we can respond to injustice in the world.
This is the latest in our Emmaus readings and I just started reading. I’m excited to get into it, especially after seeing Call + Respond, in which Haugen was interviewed a few times throughout the film.
